How To Shop For Your Body Size
Shopping for your body size can be hard, especially if you have a body you feel is hard to dress. Plus, there are so many clothing companies who have weird measurements and sizes. I am a size 12 to 14 and depending on which store I go to, I can be anywhere from size 10 to 16 or Medium to XXL. This can be very frustrating, so I have gathered 5 simple ways to shop for your body size.
Don’t go with any expectations, sometimes we have it in our heads that something will fit us at this particular store; then we go and it doesn’t fit us. This often gets us upset because we don’t fit in it. I say, go with an idea of what you want but not with the expectation that it will fit you.
Try on everything. Sometimes we stop ourselves from trying something on because we feel like we are too fat or too thin. Try it on anyways, because it is the only way to know for sure that it will fit. You will be very surprised as to what fits you and what doesn’t.
Venture out to different stores. For so long I thought that Zara clothes were only for thin girls, and I would never step foot in there because those clothes were meant for me. But then, I got the courage and I went in and tried things on. I found a beautiful dress I loved (pictured down below). Don’t think a store is not for you!
Know what fits well on you. If you are reading this, then you must know that some materials are better than others when it comes to your body. I love stretchy jeans, and tops/dress that don’t zip up at the side, so I often go for clothes that don't have a zipper. Go for clothes that have materials that you like to wear.
Know what looks good on you! Flowy shirts and dark jeans look great on my body, so I always try and stick with that. It really comes down to understanding what you feel good in. Often times, whatever you feel good in is what looks best on you. Also, don’t be too hard on yourself because, what’s the point? There are so many stores and clothing companies that cater to people’s bodies, you don’t have to be scared or ashamed. Always try new things, explore all the stores in the mall or online, you never know what you might find. Just be brave and try it on!!
