5 Ways To Survive The First Couple Years After University

The first couple years after college and university can be jarring. I have to be honest that I was not very prepared for the real world; which is never a good thing. But the thing is you find your place and things start to make sense. Here are five ways I survived the first years after university.

Surround Yourself With People Who Are Going Through The Same Thing: The best advice I can give is stay in contact with your friends from college; because they know exactly how you are feeling. The first years are unstable and there is so much you will be experiencing; and having people around you who feel the same way is so important.

Seek Advice From Those Who Have Been Through It: Another advice is talking to people who have been out of school for five years or more. One of the best advice I ever received was about student loans, because some of us owe so much. A girl who had been out for like 10 years said to me " live your life, don't let loans or crappy jobs keep you from living your life"  and I remember just feeling so happy after hearing that advice. I remember thinking okay, I am gonna try and live my best life!

It's Okay That You Are Struggling: I will say this, everyone and I mean everyone who has graduated from school is feeling the same way and is struggling too. No one is doing "fine", everyone feels slightly unbalanced and unsure of what to do and how to do it. So, it is more than okay to feel like you are struggling.

Start Something New: One the thing I did after school was start a blog. It gave me control over some things in my life. The first two years I felt like I had no control over anything. I couldn't get a job that was in my field, I just felt very undisciplined  and then I started my blog and YouTube channel; it just made things feel a lot better.

Be Patient: The number advice I will give to you is be patient. You will have friends who will get married, have a baby, get the great house or apartment, and even the best job. You will feel awful through all of this but be patient, hang on, things will come to you in your time, I promise!!

Ps: There is a video below if you would like to watch. In the video, I show you how I stayed patient, tried something new and found my passion after graduating!! Have a watch!
