5 Ways To Get Out Of Your Reading Slump
Reading slumps are a funny thing. They hit with little to no warning. Over the past few months, I have been struggling with reading. And let me tell you, the struggle is real! It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I got back into reading. Here are the 5 ways I got out of my slump.
Understand That Sometimes You Don't Want To Read: Sometimes, you would rather sit and binge watch a Netflix show or YouTube videos. I understand, cause I do that too! When those times hit, roll with it. Don't try and stop them, your mind needs a break and a time to relax from all that reading.
Are You Lazy?: I have recently realized that my reading slump is 60 percent laziness. We all get lazy sometimes and it is so hard to overcome laziness. My number one tip is a phrase I live by which is "there is nothing to it but to do it". You just gotta do it. Pick up that book and read, even if its one page, one chapter, or a hundred pages, just overcome the laziness and do it.
Join A Book Club: This has been so helpful for me. At the beginning of this year, I created a book club and it has been so helpful with getting me to read more. Having to be responsible for reading a book makes you do it because there is a sense of accountability. You can join an online book club, your local library's or create your own!
Get Excited: Go on sites like Goodreads, Bustle, or Buzzfeed Books, these sites are always talking about new books and exciting news about books. Without realizing, you will start to get excited about reading, books and get introduce to new books too. Also, join Instagram and twitter accounts for book lovers.
Read Old Favorites: Sometimes, our reading slump is comes about because we have nothing new and exciting to read. So pick some old favorites and reread them. This often helps me get into the grove of reading and it is a such a great way to love books again.
