How To Declutter Your Social Media Accounts & Feel Inspired
Social media has become a huge part of our lives and for some people it has completely taken over. But social media can also make us feel overwhelmed and stressed, especially if you use social media for your job. As bloggers, digital content creators, and photographers, social media is the corner stone of our lives and careers. So, I have come up with a few ways to declutter your social media to feel inspired.
Cut Down How Many Social Media Accounts You Follow: We can’t be everywhere all at once and having a billion and one social media accounts can be stressful. I suggest picking one to three accounts you can stick with. Or pick one that you really enjoy and don’t go on the ones you don’t enjoy. Because using social media is a part of my job, I have to be on multiple accounts, I have an Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat just to name a few. I only use Instagram and Twitter on a daily basis but I totally enjoy it. I have cut down Pinterest and Snapchat because I just don’t enjoy it as much. So pick the ones you enjoy and leave the rest.
Delete, Delete, Delete: You know the people you follow that can be very negative or they complain like all the time. Everything is like why me or this isn’t fair or omg I’m sick again with a cold and the world is ending. You know those people, whether they are people you know in real life or people who are famous. I find these people to be exhausting and energy draining, so delete them. While you’re at it, delete people who are just mean and negative, having people like this in your social media life only causes stress, so delete anyone who brings negativity and stress to you.
Only Follow Accounts That Inspire You: This is so important. Sometimes we get caught up following people we don’t like or following people because we have to. So, only follow people who truly inspire you to live your best life or people and accounts that bring a smile to your face. If you feel too rude unfollowing people then create a private Instagram that allows you to follow only the people you want to follow! I can’t tell you how much better you feel when you do this!
Have A Theme: I know people have mixed feelings when it comes to themes on Instagram but I have realized that it makes a huge difference for me. Creating a theme inspires me to have a visual representation of what makes me happy and I also get to enjoy it. It is so important to turn your social media into a source of inspiration instead of a source of stress it has become for many.
Only Post The Pictures And Things You Want To Post: Some people think that you have to post every day and it has to get a certain amount of likes. And the truth is, that’s not true. You can post whatever you want because that’s what you want to post. Allow yourself to take a break too and don’t be on there every day. I take a weekend break every Saturday and Sunday and I am a better person for it!
